About Mersea Harbour Protection Trust
Mersea Harbour Protection Trust works to protect the islands and shorelines that shelter West Mersea Harbour, including areas important to the oyster fishery and local wildlife.
In January 2022, a major recharge scheme was completed using sand and gravel from dredging at Harwich to reinforce vulnerable shorelines. The Trust publishes information about the scheme and continuing monitoring.
